little library

little library by lovelydesign
We have hundreds of books in our little library, but these days Reid is loyal to his one-and-only Truck book. No matter where I put it in the shelf, he will locate it by it's spine, slide it out gingerly with one little finger, and flip through each page one-by-one and back again, pointing and jabbering away. He does this several times a day. It is his Truck book, and it is love!

I thought of you today as I followed my 14 month old boy through two public libraries as he removed books off the shelves. You had posted about Reid exploring books differently than your daughter and I was feeling it today too.

So sweet. My daughter did the same thing with her "that's not my ...." books when she was little. Love how your bookshelves are set up now!

My son is obsessed with wheels and cogs and fans. It is lovely that Reid is obsessed with books - no matter what form that takes. Your home looks so beautiful and well organised.x

Hi Everyone! So lovely to bump into you here. I've been thinking of getting back into blogging as I found that it helped me in my routine with my children- it was a sort of meditation of sorts for me.

Our house is starting to come together since moving around 6 months ago now. It's over 100 years old so has some interesting quirks to wrap my head around or alter. I've been trying to get it together any chance I can get (some of you will know how 'interesting' this can be when you have small children). But it's coming along and I really love it in our new home. I hope to share more of it soon.

Sarah - when we were thinking of boys names, Addie actually is the one who very much insisted on the name Reid. I do think she thought it was "READ" as in books and Addie is a book nerd. So there you go :)

Jessica - The book is the "Usborne First Picture Trucks" book and it is really, really fantastic. Bright, beautiful, sturdy, and definitely THE favourite around here. I'm considering ordering a few more from this series for Reid. http://www.amazon.com/First-Picture-Trucks-Board-Books/dp/0794514545/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1341073293&sr=8-1&keywords=usborne+first+trucks I will also check the little blue truck books out - thank you!

Gabriella - well, Reid is obsessed with ONE book. Mostly he is obsessed with wheels. It's kind of alarming, actually. I don't even have my driver's license!

So glad you snuck in to share this sweet photo. It makes me smile to see this room brimming with books, and to see him so in love with one. Hope you're having a wonderful summer!

The obsession with truck books - I know it so well! My 3rd is a wee boy of three who loves his Little Blue Truck and Roadwork books to exhaustion. Thankfully they have lovely images and rhymes that we both enjoy. Have fun with it - I'm the one pointing out 'skid steers' and 'back hoe loaders' now (easy to do when Vancouver streets & buildings are under constant construction)!

I'm glad you're back to blogging more. I really love your posts.

Hello again everyone - thank you so much for visiting and sending your thoughts.

Stephanie: The colour of our living room walls as of a classic gender neutral grey blue. I love this colour and it is "2123-40 Gossamer Blue" by Benjamin Moore. According to them Gossamer Blue is "A timeless mid-tone that's soft and subtle, gossamer blue evokes the mellow, relaxed feeling of faded blue jeans and lazy summer days." and I agree!

Beautiful shots of your little library. Yea! I adore that you are planning to share some peeks of your new home! You are one of the most inspiring women on the internet. I love to soak up your organizational ideas, the way you put colors together, your simple but beautiful designs and your honesty in sharing bits of your life with the world. Thanks for taking the time to stop in during these busy years of parenting young children!

You need to get Reid those books where you push a button and it makes a nose for a different part of the book. You can get him a trunk book that lets you push noises that produce trunk sounds.
