My uncertain days with a new baby are beginning to settle down, and I find my thoughts turning more and more to my creative projects, and how I can get to them and balance parenting without making a mess out of both my projects and my children!
When the weather is chilly I always seem to crave the comfort of working on my quilting projects. But this summer, too, has been so cold and grey that I have found myself turning to this work-in-progress quilt. Often, when I can grab a few moments, I will spread it out and stitch even just a few dozen more stitches. I find comfort in this - the repetition of the stitches always seems to calm me.
It is a pleasurable task, but I still find myself wishing that I could just finish this quilt already! I am so looking forward to washing and spreading this baby out on my bed. Despite Adelaide's insistence that this quilt is hers - this one is for me!

I love the quilt. It's just gorgeous...a sunset on the bed! I'm trying so hard to figure out the creativity/parenthood balance. My creative projects have long been thrown out the window and I miss them. It's just hard to go back to them when you feel so tired in your free time! I've been discouraged about it lately, but I know a solution will present itself soon. I hope! :)
This quilt is just so balanced in color with such a pure feel to it. It this won't cheer you up on dull gloomy mornings then not much will I think.

Is the entire quilt hand pieced or did you use a sewing machine? I'd love to see the entire color scheme of the patches...is it only done in triangles of orange and blue?

For my daughter's 4th birthday party yesterday I used your little cupcake flag pdf. When I came over to your blog to download it, I also realized the little personalized drawstring bags I'd made for each of her friends were your idea too. I remember when you first shared this Autumn Quilt with your readers. My heart leaped when I saw the gorgeous picture as I waited for the page to load on computer! I continue to come back to these pictures, just enjoying those tiny stitches.
You've inspired me to create my own "Autumn Quilt" but mine have different colors. It takes SO long to gather all the different materials!

It's inspiring to see you quilting without a frame or hoop. I have a large quilt that I want to hand quilt that I've put off finishing for many years because I didn't know how to tackle the issue of the frame. Maybe you will inspire me to finish it sooner now.

this is beautiful! is this quilt made completely by hand stitching or did you machine sew it first? i know nothing about quilting so i'm sorry if this is a dumb question :(
The quilt is beautiful! I feel the same way about this cross-stitching piece I've been working on. Calms me down!
The thing I like about making quilts is that they are so useful. I've sewed mittens and bracelets but quilts are the most useful and most appropriated as a gift. I guess mittens aren't bad either but at night time I really do feel cold without my knitted quilt.
