I wasn't really expecting a three year old to want so strongly to go to school. I guess... that she's ready, but I kind of am not. It's actually quite hard for me to type this without tearing up. It is a menancholy happiness.
I took these photographs of Addie just before we left for her school, and it was really hard to capture one where she wasn't wiggling and dancing around so excitedly! When we got to school, she skipped on in and got right to it. I stayed and hung around for the whole class (feeling kind of silly) but just wanting to make sure she would be ok. She was.
This past week I have been feeling, and hoping, to begin to get back on my feet. The past several months have been filled with many moments of joy and anticipation, but also filled with so much sickness and frustration. I have been struggling every day with the severe morning sickness, and I really wouldn't wish this on anyone. I am now over 12 weeks pregnant, and hoping that maybe I will begin to feel a bit better in the coming month.
And so, we are expecting another little one to come to us this coming spring. And sending wishes out into the universe for this baby to be healthy and strong. For the birth to go smoothly and safely. And for all to be well.

oh wow! congratulations, how exciting to have another wee one on the way. so sorry to hear you've been so ill, i hope that the second trimester brings you energy + wellness.
these pictures are adorable. i just sent my big guy off to kindergarten last week, and it is amazing to see how fast they grow. but what a blessing to watch them thrive in the big wide world. enjoy :)
Congratulations! You took me by surprise with that last paragraph, but only in the best of ways. Wishing you a happy and healthy 40 weeks. :)
ah, congrats on baby #2, and on Addie doing so well in school! Hope you get to feeling better soon...
Aw, this post is so cute and sweet!
I am very excited about your second baby :) Congratulations!
Congratulations!!
Congrats! Wishing you all the best. From the way you describe Addie in this blog I'm sure she'll be a terrific big sister.
Congratulations! Wishing you all the rest and support you need right now.
How wonderful that Adelaide has started preschool and that she loves it! It is bittersweet to see your little one go out there and a life of their own, but so amazing to see the incredible changes that take place because of it.
Congratulations!! One moves on to school and another one arrives at home - a perfect cycle for happy family life!I hope the morning sickness abates soon!
congratulations! I was so sick with my little girl, feeling your pain.
oh wow! delurking to say congrats! i have read your blog for a while just loving your house and design style. so exciting for you! I am 17 weeks pregnant with my second! good luck to you, hope the sickness goes away soon.
Congratulations! (I had my suspicions.)
I recommend this website to patients with morning sickness: www.motherisk.org
Hope you feel well soon.
first ~ CONGRATS! on the new one coming! I have no doubt Addie will be a caring, helpful older sister!
She looks so happy!
it's nice to have captured her excitement for learning... parents often overlook the stimulation, socialization and personal growth that comes with attending preschool or organized play groups. Having Addie start before the baby comes is important... she's become settled in her new environment & not feel the confusion that sometimes comes with a new addition to the family. Plus you will have some time for self-care & home & work projects.
Enjoy this new chapter! hopefully the sickness will decrease as you move along in your pregnancy.
Congratulations! Addie will be such a great big sister :)
Congratulations! And feel better. :)
She is the cutest kid ever.
WOW!!! What a wonderfully exciting post! Most congratulations on your pregnancy! I was actually thinking to myself how hard it must be to send your little one off to school...you've done everything together for so long. Then, to read your words about your next little one on the way...well, it sort of answered the question about what is next! :) We plan to try for a similar spacing for our children, fingers crossed. Congratulations to Addie on starting preschool. I'm so happy for her and am glad about this grand adventure she is on. She looks so grown up in these photos. I get melancholy often when I think about how fast my daughter is growing. I understand the feeling of happiness mixed in with it. It's such a complex feeling. Anyway, congrats all around and I'm so excited to read all about the things to come!
Congratulations! How exciting! I hope the morning sickness passes very soon.
Adelaide is just so adorable. It's hard to believe I've been watching her grow up for almost her whole life. I'm guessing she is going to be over the moon as a big sister.
congrats!!! very exciting news! i am so sorry about the "morning: sickness. i know this all too well being sick almost all of my pregnancy. it stinks. focus on the reward :)
oh my gosh - CONGRATS!
your little addie is so photogenic and she is growing up so beautifully. may your new bundle of joy be blessed too.
oh my goodness! another little one, how exciting :) i'm sorry you're feeling sick from pregnancy though. i hated that period of my pregnancy so much! anyway, congratulations!
all the best to you and addie!
Congratulations! That is so exciting. Hope you feel better soon!
Squee!!!
Addie will be the best big sister, I'm sure.
Congrats! That's amazing..... she looks so grown up too in these pictures. it's time for the fledging to stretch her wings a bit.... and soon she'll be flying on her own. trust me. it's beautiful to see.
Huge congratulations! How exciting for you all :)
Congratulations all around!
Oh congratulations!
I hope you'll feel better soon!

congrats, congrats, congrats and lucky adelaide will have a sibling!
How exciting! Morning sickness is such a drag. I have had 4 kids and it was really bad with my twins...are you sure it's not twins?!
I found the first day of preschool way worse than real school...so you're not alone.
Keep well.
This year- for the first time in five years, I have two kiddos in school. That means that there are two mornings that nobody is directing- and it is weird! I thought it was hard with the first one, but now that my daughter is going a little bit, and knowing that she is probably my last baby, it is even more difficult to settle my mind and heart around the change.
Congratulations on the new baby on the way! Maybe your daughter's time at preschool will be a way for you to relax and prepare for the new baby and be more fully present for your daughter when she comes home from school each day. It's so hard to let them go when we're the ones who aren't ready! Congratulations, again!
I wish you, baby and your little daugther all good one!
Nice greetings from Germany, Éva
Congratulations! I so hope you'll be feeling better soon. Addie is just so cute and you are so lucky that she likes school. I'm a teacher and I know that the children that are most successful are the children that enjoy learning things. it is a very happy way to begin a school career.
congratulations!
what a wonderfully exciting time for your whole family! :)

Congratulations!
Being pregnant is one of the most wonderful things in the world :-)
My little girl will start school next week and I keep telling her that she'll love it, but the truth is I'm feeling nervous and anxious and terrified :-)
Congrats! this is such a heartwarming post. I know how you feel, seeing your little one grow up is so hard and I haven;t even gotten that far yet.
Your little daughter looks so so happy in hose photos! So sweet. And congratulations on number two. I do hope you are feeling lots better soon!
It's so nice to see a picture of your sweetie smiling! she looks so happy :) Congratulations on the new baby... I hope that the rest of the pregnancy goes well for you.
Congratulations!
many congratulations! I had the worst morning sickness, but it does pass, even if it lasts the whole pregnancy and soon you forget all about it. I did not enjoy my "morning" sickness with either of my girls, it's so tough not to feel good.
HURRAY - CONGRATULATIONS! I am just shy of 15 weeks and although I didn't have the morning sickness, I certainly had the exhaustion and terrible insomnia. These little babies sure do take a lot out of us! I am so happy to be sharing this wonderful journey with another crafty Mama! Take care of yourself and I hope you are feeling much much better very soon.
Hi Sharilyn, this is the first time I comment in your blog.
I just wanted to congratulate you for all the lovely creations you did and for the excellent job you do as a mother.
Every time I read you I wish I could become a mother like you. Thanks for the good labor and example you give to us all.
All my blessings to you and your whole little family (:
hearty congratulations to you and your family! so many wonderful developments afoot, and I hope that things continue to progress well for addie and for you! this may make me nostalgic for pregnancy again, though both of mine were miserable affairs.
Congratulations - that is fantastic news for you all. Hope you are feeling much better very soon.
Congratulations on the new little one coming on its way!
And on Addie having such an interest in learning, that is fantastic! I hope you're feeling a little better soon, though..
Congratulations! Oh, I am so excited for you and so proud of Addie. I've been a reader of your blog for quite a while, and this entry almost made me weep, too. Happy school life & pregnancy!
Congrats on your good news of another little sweetie coming your way!
Exciting news, congratulations :-)
Glad the preschool transition was happy, it hurts even more when they're unhappy.
whoohoo for addie loving preschool. and whoohoo for the new baby on the way. (and whoohoo for you starting to feel better!)
Addie looks so happy...It's amazing how fast they grow...Congratulation on your second baby wishing you feel better soon.
Wonderful news, best wishes to your family. I have a 3 year old girl and a 2 month old girl and I love watching the two of them together. I really hope you have better luck than me - I had morning sickness the entire time with the second pregnancy, ugh 9 months of puking. It's all worth it in the long run.
I'm so glad to see a new post on your blog and to learn the reason for your absense...congratulations are in order. I hope the morning sickness abates soon and that you'll be able to enjoy being pregnant.
I'm not surprised that Addie is so ready for school...she's a bright little thing and will soak it all up like a sponge, I'm sure. It's hard for us to be left behind but she's on the biggest adventure of her life at this point.
I hope you're able to be creative in a crafty way when you're feeling better.
Congratulations to your whole family. Watching relationships develop between siblings is just SO beautiful. My eldest (5 year old) made our youngest (7 month old) laugh out loud for the first time yesterday and it bought me to tears! Lots of treasured moments to look forward to for you.
PS LOVE Adelaide as a name (I am biased: it is the name of my home town!)
OH, I must put my orders in on your shop before you get too busy/or tired (or both!)
Take care of yourself.
congratulations so much!! i am so very happy for you and your family! :D
Congratulations x 100!! I hope you feel better soon and I just love that photo of Addie eagerly anticipating preschool. I just started my little boy in preschool this last week and am feeling a little unready as well! So much nicer if they are enjoying it though.
congratulations! so exciting.. but yes, i'm sure the nausea has been wearying, and hope you feel better very soon. glad that addie loves pre-school so much, tho i can imagine how it's bittersweet.. they just grow up too fast!
huge congrats! so looking forward to sharing your journey with number two...
Wow! Congratulations!!
I remember lying in my bed with tears rolling down my cheeks the night before my little girl traipsed happily off to preschool. I, too, was pregnant with my second. I knew it was a good thing for my girl to make that transition before the new one joined our family, but it was bittersweet and hard seeing her so grown up. You have helped Addie to become the strong, sweet girl she is. You will be just as good to this new baby. Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy and to Addie as she forges ahead in school!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! Oh, what a lot of transitions. Addie looks beautiful in the picture, and what a blessing that she adjusted so well to school. I had terrible morning sickness with both my pregnancies, and the second time around was almost unbearable with a 3 year old to take care of at the same time. Hang in there, I hope you are feeling much much better soon! And Addie being settled in preschool will be so wonderful once the baby arrives.
Blessings to all of you!
Congratulations mama!! What fantastic news:) I'm sorry to hear about your morning sickness. I had it none stop with my twin pregnancy for four months and 11 days. It's awful and I found that the only thing that worked was sleeping. Rest as much as possible. Your little girl is just precious and you should be really proud of yourself for raising such a confident and happy girl. Good for you:)
Congratulations and I hope you are feeling better soon!
congratulations, what exciting news! i hope you start to feel better soon.
and addie looks adorable, all ready for school. so wonderful that she loves it already!
Best wishes for your pregnancy, and congratulations!
Congratulations - wow, Addie will have a little sibling soon! Yes, just said a prayer that you and baby will be healthy throughout your pregnancy. Ooo my little girl was and still is so happy to go to school (and she's just 2 1/2) so I can imagine how excited Adelaide is :-)
CONGRATULATIONS SHARILYN!!!!!!! xoxxoxoxoxox Susanna
That is such a cute outfit and picture of her. :) I hope that you do well with your new upcoming baby. Stay healthy, and drink plenty of liquids, as well as taking the necessary vitamins that you NEED.
good luck and come by again soon.

My best wishes for the baby :-) everything will be ok!
Congratulations! It's such a joy to be pregant and awaiting a newborn. Yet it can be so hard.... I feel your pain... morning sickness (although it always lasted the entire day) stayed with me till about 25 weeks in each of my two pregnancies. But as soon as it gets better, and it will, you'll forget all about it.
Best wishes to all of you!
My 3 year old also keeps asking me about preschool. I haven't acted yet. Sorry for your morning sickness. Hope you feel better soon.
Congratulations! All the best to you and your family!
Your pictures of Addie are lovely. And so is your news. You're inspiring.
Many, many congratulations! How exciting for all of you! Here's to good health and sleep in the months ahead! Blessings to you all!
that is great news! congratulations!!!
Oh my! Best wishes to you and your family as it grows bigger [and smarter ;)]
Congrats!! How exciting, so sorry that you have felt so ill. Thank you for showing the wonderful pictures of the first day of school, how precious!!
I am there with you. I turn 12 weeks pregnant this week, also and wish I could be my normal self again. Hopefully soon for both of us.
She's a sweetie!
Congratulations! May U have an easy pregnancy.
Our little guy also started preschool this past week and I've been feeling the same way (well, aside from morning sickness). :) I hope that it gets easier for you on all accounts. Congratulations!
I had a feeling that you were expecting:)
You are such a good Mama to Addie, just think about how much another little one will brighten your lives.
It will all be OK:)
Congratulations! I hope you start feeling better soon...but what a great reason to feel sick.
Sweet, beautiful Adelaide...growing so fast! And another little bundle of joy on the way...how wonderful. Such happy times ahead!

PS Feel better soon...
Oh my gosh -- I'm so pleased that this joyful news ins the reason for your absence in this space lately. Congratulations on raising such a lovely, mindful, independent person so far, and on your happy news. I hope you begin to feel better soon. I've heard the trimesters called: weary, cheery, and dreary. I hope cheery finds you. With love,
Elizabeth
Congrats!! That's wonderful news! I am also 12 weeks and super sick and soooo exhausted! I am currently feeling your pain, but... oh so happy for you! Wish you the very best!
Congratulations.
Congrats - hope you are feeling better in no time. Sweet pics of Adelaide off to school :-)
Yay for a new little one! I wish you energy and health to prepare for the adventure!
Grattis!! (Congrats in Swedish)
I'm so very very happy to hear you're having a second little one (who doubtlessly will be just as fantastic as sweet Addie is)!
Also, I think it's a wonderful thing that Addie has grown into such a confident girl who is not afraid of getting into new situations. An ability to embrace new things is such a good good thing for a young person to have! You should be so proud of the little person she is!
congrats sharilyn!
morning sickness is terrible and so much harder when you have another child to take care of.
hope you feel better soon and have a great 28 weeks!
congratulations. i do hope you feel better soon.
letting go is hard, right. they have this whole other life at school that you are not part of. i guess it's just the beginning as they become more independent and grow and become their own little person. my girl started last week and did really well too. i often wish to be little fly on the wall so i could see how she is doing at school
Congratulations for both of you, girls!
And for him, of course. lol
Oh YAY! Congratulations!!! I've been missing your blog posts...but sister I can understand awful morning sickness! I had ALL DAY sickness with my son!!!
Sending love and prayers your way for you and your sweet family!

And Addie is so adorable. I hope my baby, Audrey (she just turned 8 months) will look as cute as her when she is her age :)
Congrats again for you and your family :)
xoxo,
Lita
AWE-MAZING! Totally didn't know. What an awesome surprise! G'luck.
Contratulations to you and your new wee one. I just wanted to encourage you - I threw up for 7 months of my last pregnancy and was absolutely depressed and debilitated. I found it almost impossible to take care of my 2 young girls. Now Charlotte is 4 months and on a daily basis I find myself pondering how beyond worth it it all was. I would do it again in a heartbeat - she is so precious. I know it is hard right now, but there is life on the other side!
sorry to hear your feeling crummy but CONGRATULATIONS on the new one coming. excited to see the journey
wishing you much happiness. I'm very inspired by your blog, your crafts and how you raise your wee one. I have an 8.5 month old and your tips have been very helpful to me and I'm very thankful. I hope you regain your energy!
CONGRATULATIONS :-) on the new addition :-)
Congrats! I follow your blog a long time ago. It is such a great time to give your daughter going to school. It is so excited to see your baby coming soon.
Take care
Ricka

I KNEW it! I was beginning to wonder when I would read the good news! So happy for you and your beautiful growing family!
Congratulations! So happy for you and your family! :)
Can't wait to hear about your new addition to the family in the spring.
What happy news! Not the morning sickness though (I hear you on that one… 20 weeks in and still experiencing it). Anyway, I'm thrilled for you and your family. Congratulations!
Congratulations on your pregnancy! Very exciting. xx
First...Congratulations:) How very exciting! Sending positive energy for your healthy baby!
Now I have to tell you how much we have in common! I stumbled onto your page from make do & send's blog and saw your girl Addie! I also have a 3 year old Addie (but short for Addison) who also just started preschool. She had been just dying to go and is having a blast and doing amazing. I had a hard time for the first couple weeks of school but am getting over the little bit of ache I had...I guess knowing that she was going at something on her own. No mom :( Bittersweet!
Thanks for sharing your life and design. (We are also hoping for a little addition...keep your fingers crossed for us!)
Congratulations!!!
Another sweet one for Addie to add to her list. Congratulations !! I remember how much I loved preschool and couldn't (at all) understand why some kids were crying.
Addie looks so adorable and excited! Yay for her. Also Yay for you on your pregnancy. I hope you start feeling much better soon!
Hello!
I am new to your blog. I read about your lovely home in the "Better Homes and Gardens" magazine.
I enjoy reading your blog (I think, I've read it about 100 times now)
Congratulations on your wee one about to join your family!Your daughter, Addie, is such a sweetie!
I enjoy reading what you two do together. It gives me ideas on what to do with my five old daughter and my one year old daughter.
I look forward to reading more about your wonderful life with your dear daughter!
Blessings,
Rhonda
Congratulations. The difference in your two will be the same as between ours, there abouts. One begins a new journey whilst another just begins.
Congratulations on your new addition!
