The days have been so incredibly dark and grey lately, and because of this much of the time I find it difficult to take photographs. But today I was putting together all of the many pages of many books, and I found myself cheered up by these little papers. I cut them from old exercise book covers to be placed inside of old little glassine envelopes which will line the pages of my notebooks.
While preparing them I had this nice thought visit me: That perhaps someday, somehow, these bright little bits will find their way to someone else out there who is experiencing a dark day, just like I have been. And give them a little bit of cheer, too.
I do hope so.

Will you help me? I will be binding up book covers over the next few days, and I am hoping for some assistance in deciding which colours to choose this time around. It is always interesting to me which hues people prefer best at different seasons of the year, and how this varies or changes from year to year.
Which colour would you choose?

All of them... but especially: clementine, cream soda, coffee and robin's egg
Steel blue, definitely.
I'm also drawn to cherry, cream soda, clover & frosting.
But would buy steel blue.
Love your blog. Your crafts and daily life with Adelaide have me yearning for a similar life (although I'm not a trained designer or have wanted children before).
I'm verymuch looking forward to making perfect boxes.
<3 lowlow
clementine!!!
its christmas, and that's why its perfect! and ofcours its my loves favorite colour.
:)
I would choose cherry or steel blue.
Steel blue, Mint or Cherry.
Sharilyn, I have never commented here before but yours is one of my FAVOURITE blogs in the whole of the internets! You posts are so inspiring to me, your honesty so refreshing and your talent is breathtaking. You've encouraged me in so many ways, I just wanted to say thank you for it. I think you and your daughter are an adorable team and I have a love for your cat elliot that I can't quite explain, since I've never met him! Please pass my hugs on to your entire household.
This season always leaves me feeling somber (although it is also my birth month)...so I go for mint, robins egg, or steel blue. :]
hello
i would say clementine or mint
i live in france (in the alps) and i just found your blog, it's amazing and i love your work, and your daughter is so pretty!
excuse my english and "a bientot"
marianne
Robin's egg blue, mint green, or snow white would remind me of a beautiful crisp winter day. Happy choosing!
Cream soda and Cherry are my favourites. I hope I can get my hands of one of your notebooks this time.
I love clementine, cherry cream soda frosting robins egge mint & clover ;-)
I already have a journey notebook in robins egg (which I love!) so I'd say cream soda and clementine are my next favorites. Loving the bright colors!
Hi Sharilyn,
I am particularly drawn to clementine, cherry, robin's egg, mint, clover, coffee, sand, and steel blue (everything but cream soda, frosting, snow, coffee, and midnight). The pinks seem inappropriate for the season, and the darker colors are too dark, and snow is too bland.
I have never commented before but I just wanted to say that your blog is one of my favorite reads and that your daughter is so precious and adorable.
Best,
-M
I'm a real lover of Steel blue too but for cher a grey day I would say cream soda or mint.
Have a nice day an good work!
robins egg :)
I would choose Robin's Egg, Frosting or Cream Soda! :)
clover (gorgeous green!) and then cherry
(:
Clementine, always clementine. Also love Robin's Egg and Cherry. And Coffee and Sand. Midnight and Snow always classics. Would never choose Frosting or Cream Soda, pink not my thing. Not as drawn to Mint, Clover or Steel Blue. It's summer over here but I don't think my choices are related to that - I'd always choose Clementine, no matter when!
Clementine and clover. So cheery!
I'd choose clementine and snow.
Hmm. I would normally choose Robin's Egg, but I think I would pick Mint this time. I love how the different papers cheered you up; they cheer me up too. I love to just go through my "stash" when I'm feeling "gray." Geez, I sound like I"m talking about drugs. Well, paper is our drug I guess.
cream soda! or robin's egg.
they're both so appealing today.
love your blog, sharilyn.
I have one in Robin's Egg and it's lovely. But Cream Soda is really catching my eye this time. They're all so pretty!
p.s. the cute little bits of colored paper were very cheering this morning. I love them all together like that.
Coffee, mint, and robins egg really jump out to me. :)
Clementine caught my eye, as did cream soda. I've noticed the dark descending lately as well. I try to get out on a walk each day. That helps.
I love the steel blue and mint!
clemintine and cream soda! Lovely little dots as well!
I love clementine, cherry and the Robin's Egg. If you had a gray shade, I would pick that as well. I love all things gray, it actually cheers me up!
Great dots, they are mighty happy!
hard to choose colors, those are great colors! I'm drawn to robin's egg, clover, and cream soda
Such great colors to choose from! I would say clover, cream soda and clementine are my favorite. But all te colors are wonderful compared to these gray days! (although gray would be a great paired with any of them).
undeniably robin's egg.
clementine, cherry or steel blue and coffee in that order - LOVE the clementine!
i like robin's egg, cherry, and frosting together. and i think i would like to have a daughter named clementine (but the color is pretty great too)!

Now, for Winter I will go with cheerful colors like Cream Soda, Clementine or Clover. For Spring, Frosting, Robins Egg, Coffee. For Summer, Clementine, Cherry, Sand. For Fall, Steel Blue, Midnight, Mint, Coffee.

sanne
Either Clementine, Cherry or Cream Soda! So bright and cheerful.
clementine and clover!
Oooh...I love the clover and clementine. So very pretty and cheerful.
I love clementine and robin's egg blue (together and separately), after that, steel blue, mint and cherry (together or separate). We're having a lovely sunny day down in Seattle, hope some of it makes it up your way. Best,
Elizabeth
robin's egg or steel blue
hmmm,
coffee, clementine & steel blue
I believe that Robins egg blue and clementine are my favorites, and the mint and clover my least favorites. However, I love to see how you put colors together that I may not have thought of myself. Enjoy the process!
steel blue all the way with clementine and cherry to bring the cheer.
xo
I can tell you one thing, for sure, that no matter what time of year, I will gravitate towards robins' egg, mint and clover! Such a beautiful and tonal combination!
clover is my all-the-year-long color. Have a raincoat and rainboots in that color and nothing can make me sad when I have them near.
steel blue would definitely be my choice if I only had one. #2 would be clover, and #3 would be coffee :)
have fun using such fun colors!
ha - doesn't look like anyone can choose :) I can't either... mint or cream soda or clover. they're all such lovely shades!!
oooh... cream soda and clementine.

clementine or robin's egg, for sure!
Hello
I would have to say steel blue, robin's egg or clover.
Sandra
Clementine & Cherry, no doubt!
Mint!
Either coffee or steel blue for myself, or clover if it were a gift.
I don't like super bright colours as much in the winter time - I love muted colours and neutrals.
clementine and robin's egg!!!
definitely clementine :)
I love clementine and robins egg
i like the steel blue, frosting, and snow - but whatever you choose will be the right thing.
Totally digging clementine and clover...they brings the happy happy happy on a dark day.
I'm thinking frosting and robins egg.
cream soda and clover!
I am immediately drawn to robins egg and mint.
Robin's egg and steel blue
I'm in the mood for cherry, cream soda, and snow!!!
robins egg or mint or sand
Sand would be first choice, coffee and robins egg also, but I have to say each of these colours are very appealing.
if i had to choose just one that is jumping out at me it would be clementine! not my "favorite" color but it is the most appealing to me this cold, gray day in Nashville.
I would choose any of these: Clementine, Cream Soda, Cherry and/or Clover. I just found out I have Mono, so the dark house is getting to me. These four colors just seemed to brighten things up for a moment. I love the colorful circles!! Especially the pinked edges.
Clementine - for being cheery
Cream Soda - for being playful.
Clover
cream soda and frosting
Mmmm... a nice game :) I love the combination of frosting, robins egg, coffee, sand and snow <3
Clover, frosting, mint, cherry, robins egg.
Cherry.
Oooh....oooh....
clementine, cream soda, robins egg, clover!
I will be stalking your web storefront!
cream soda!
I want to order three from you, and if they came in robin's egg, mint, and sand, I would be so wonderfully happy! These are all beautiful colors. It's hard to choose just one.
clementine, clover, coffee and frosting are my favorites!
-Chris
If I HAD to choose one I would buy cherry. But I would buy a few more because I like them all together in my shelf...clementine, robins egg and mint. Beautiful!
cherry!!
I may be a tad late in posting my vote, but what the heck. Definitely clementine, but I also love robins egg, cream soda, clover, and steel blue....and frosting LOL! They are all lovely and have already cheered me up just looking at them on the screen.
I saw the Better Homes and Garden article on your home/studio yesterday and instantly fell in love with your style and life! I am an instant fan and will be following your blog now. Love, love, love your ideas and decorating. Your daughter is super cute as well. Thanks for the inspiration!
