This morning I have come across a big crate of papers that were brought back for me from China. My partner Charles was born in Guangzhou, and he has so many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins there and in Hong Kong that we can't even begin to count them all. They must think I'm a crazy lady, because apparently some of them have heard about my fondness from old and interesting papers, and they have been collecting for me. Stacks and stacks of wonderful treasures! This makes me very pleased, and I couldn't ask for better souvenirs.

A *crate* of papers! Now that's what I call a super souvenir!
so beautiful.
Dear Sharilyn,
This looks like a very lovely souvenir :o)
Do you mainly collect old papers?
Or also newer ones but with special patterns, textures...?
I could take a look and maybe send you some papers from here (Israel) with hebrew writing on it, if you like?
how exciting!! they are beautiful!
this is thoughtful and so so beautiful!
that would be just about the best present ever... what lovely, lovely papers! (and your daughter is a doll!)
i found your blog today...and this entry has hooked me for life. i know i will enjoy your thoughts because i feel the same way about these papers. and Adelaide's quilt makes me swoon. thanks!
WOW! I'm green with envy!
Maybe they have a fondness for your work and want to be a part of it! :) They love you from afar!!
I think it's a way of showing affection or interest sometimes...I receive egg cartons from lots of people. Stacks and stacks of them. I felt like the only crazy lady with chickens in the neighborhood until people started saving up for me. :)

I am so jealous! I agree with Jenny, it's like a collaborative work. By the way, I love your little snippets of life.

I love everything about this post: the scavenged gifts, the careful consideration, the care and both-ways love. The attentive listening to who you are and their appreciation for it.
i have the red patterned paper (on the bottom right corner) except it's green :)
