a rainy monday night

It is a dark and rainy monday night and I just realised: here we are, the three of us, all hanging out together - without even thinking about it -  in our new big family art room. Addie's making drawings together with her daddy and I am cutting and sorting papers for another edition of my pocket books. Even our kitties Jack and Elliot are here with us, supervising.

I feel so happy and content to be here making all together so naturally. It could just be so easy to be all scattered about the house all doing our own separate things. But here we are.

Big family art room. I think it may be coming together... and this life feels so sweet right about now.

i'm jealous of your big family art room. and happy for you. :)

we took a little trip last week, the three of us in an RV, and i must say, that little bit of togetherness we had for three days -- it sure made life a little sweeter, so i totally get this post. it makes me smile.

Nothing better than sharing a creative space with the ones you love. What a beautiful post Sharilyn.

I've been reading your blog for awhile now and I've got to say that you seem so content and happy in the past few months. I'm so happy for you that your life is going right! :) Enjoy Spring and your time with family!

Oh Sharilyn, this is so perfect! I have noticed that my husband and our pup routinely end up on the futon in our craftorium while I am working. He is usually reading and the pup, sleeping. It is so cozy and wonderful, especially when it is not so nice outside. Yeah for the family art room!

I just found your blog for the first time a few days ago and am thoroughly entranced! I have a 17 month old daughter and can identify with many of the sentiments you express. I've also just begun reading "Young at Art" by Susan Striker and am super excited to watch my daughter embark on her creative journey. Any suggestions for how to create a creative space? We finally have an extra room which can be converted to that purpose. Likely, though, you've already gone into this in great length in your blog previously. . . . And I was wondering if you ever made a visit to the pediatric ophthalmologist. We'll be taking our daughter in two weeks for evaluation for possible strabismus.

I stumbled onto your blog while searching for ideas for my 2 year old daughter's birthday celebration. I find your blog-life-art fascinating and inspiring!

I know I already commented, but this afternoon something happened that made me think of you actually. I was the winner of your two adorable children's notebooks -- the squirrel and the otter. Go and read my latest post to see what made me think of you this afternoon! :)

Congratulations on your new space. I've got a 16 month old daughter and, having just moved, know how hard it is to get things settled with a toddler! I, too, am trying to set up a family art room and would love any more tips or advice (or photos!) you might share.

I've loved finding your blog -- a real inspiration. Thank you!

We have one too and I love it so. Sometimes I think we could get rid of the rest of the house! Your daughter is so adorable, I'd love to get her together with my daughter Lucie!

so, so nice. Good for you for coming upon the family art room idea, sometimes those zany ones really work out don't they? My daughter and I really miss the togetherness we had with my husband since he's not working from home anymore. It was the most amazing, wonderful chance to have him involved in lots of the daily things we did and just to be able to have random moments of family togetherness.
