Jennifer: oh, my goodness, i totally did not see the age restriction thing at all - it seems so ridiculous!? I have written both the venue and elizabeth mitchell to see if this is true. so silly and such a disappointment! maybe it was the worst $5 ever spent!?!
Jennifer: This is what the venue wrote to me: "Our experience with our Saturday Family concert series is that children under the age of four often have a hard time developmentally with this format. The music is often too loud for them, they have a hard time using indoor voices and not running and so in. Just generally being developmentally appropriate! However, parents know their children best, so if you think your child will be a happy member of the audience, come on down!"
I will see if Elizabeth Mitchell will reply to my email. I still think it's kind of sad to have a show for little kids when little kids can't attend. And none of her other shows have any age restrictions at all...
Sharilyn, thanks for the update!! I wish we could catch her at another show at another venue one of these days. My niece is 4 and I know for a fact that she won't last more than 10 minutes in a concert hall. :) With that said, I hope you have a fantastic weekend. It's sunny and HOT HOT HOT here in Seattle.
Just got an e-mail from Elizabeth Mitchell's mailing list - she said that children of *all ages* are welcome at the Seattle show. It sounded like she was not aware of the venue's position on age restrictions. So hopefully you still have your tickets and will go! I'm taking my 2-year-old to the concert here in Portland on Sunday and cannot wait. Enjoy!
Hello! My name is Sharilyn, and together I live with my guy and our sweet girl + baby boy in a hundred-and-two-year-old cottage on the east side of Vancouver, Canada.
Long ago, I began a my own little company called lovelydesign. After many years (with a little luck and a lot of work) my own creations enabled me to make a small living doing what I love to do. But these days I am both a full-time mama and maker, and so I am creating my goods only infrequently.
I keep this blog as a record of all sorts of things which I'd like to try to keep with me for always.

i know!! i was really looking forward to it :( Let's hope it was a mistake on their part.
